La Demie-Poupée [The Half-Doll], 1972

It was made out of wood and fabric. I seen like medical wiring on the legs. In order for it to move, it was attached to strings like a puppet. It was so cool to witness. It’s a literal doll, but in a imaginative way. Amazing! 




“The figure has only one arm and one leg, perhaps indicating a degree of identification between artist and doll, given that a stroke a few years earlier caused Bellmer to lose motor control over the limbs on his left side.”
